Ford India will soon begin shipping auto cars to Europe from its Sanand plant from the next year 2016. The Sanand plant, Ford's second process unit, was charged in March 2015.
Chief of Ford India's Sanand plant said, "The company is presently exporting to Mexico, middle-east and South Africa from Sanand plant. We will soon start shipping auto cars to Europe from Gujarat plant. The opening of Canada based Magna International's auto components plant here in Sanand on Wednesday."
Sanand plant at first 250 units were being manufactured every day which has now increased to 400 units every day. At present, the Ford plant is working on a single shift and will grow depending on the demand. Ford India dispatched the first lot of its new Ford Figo assembled in its Sanand plant in Gujarat for exports in August 2015 this year.
Ford has provided $1 billion in the Sanand plant which will offer the automaker some assistance with tripling exports from the country in the following five years. At present Ford exports auto cars to 40 nations from India. The Sanand plant has an installed limit of 2.4 Lac vehicles and 2.7 Lac engines yearly.
