Extravagance or Luxury Cars is a term for a vehicle that gives Luxury or extravagance ­ pleasant or alluring characteristics past strict need ­ at expanded cost. The term recommends a vehicle with higher quality equipment, better execution or performance, more exact development, comfort, higher plan, technologically imaginative advanced, or characteristics that convey an picture, brand, status, or prestige.

Luxury vehicle makers may either be stand-alone companies in their own right, such as BMW and Mercedes, or a subsidiary of a mass market automaker (e.g., Lexus is part of Toyota). Also known as full-size luxury cars, or premium large cars, is used in Germany. Many of these are the marque’s showcases for the newest automotive technology. Several nameplates also offer long-wheelbase versions that offer additional rear legroom and amenities. Full-size luxury cars sold in Canada and the U.S. typically have mid-displacement V8 engines, though recently some marques have offered six cylinder power plants.

Luxury vehicles are also a status symbol for conspicuous consumption.
